Manager Food Product Innovation and Sourcing

NatureBox is looking for a smart, eager, hard-working, creative food product development/innovation candidate with strong sourcing, vendor relationship, and negotiating experience. We are looking for an analytical and creative candidate with superb organizational skills. This candidate will help manage existing supplier relationships and help to identify new supplier partners in support of our rapid growth. This role has great growth potential to lead into management of product strategy and foster team member growth and development.


Oversees strategy, development and execution of product assortment offerings

Handles ideation to commercialization of multiple food product launches at any given time.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects cross functionally.

Negotiates with vendors as they relate to assigned product lines in all aspects of product development.  This includes ideation, adaptation, costing, product quality and distribution related issues.

Performs market analysis, competitive shop and analyze sales trends to keep abreast of current trends. Obtain feedback from customer ratings and data to improve product and add to collections.

Navigates gaps and opportunities and work to reformulate existing SKUs when appropriate.

Maintains financial profitability by meeting and exceeding margin and sales targets.

Collaborate with Chef Partners to identify and develop new products.

Maintain, develop and strengthen new and existing vendor relationships.

Manages supplier files to ensure required compliance documentation is present, accurate and up to date.

Seeks quality secondary sources to supplement primary sources as necessary

Attends trade shows and visit production facilities as necessary.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills, especially related to negotiating product costs.
  • Ability to clearly articulate vision for new products to leadership team and cross-functional departments.
  • Seeks collaboration and buy-in at all levels of the development process. 
  • Creative thinker who balances innovation and approachability of new foods.
  • Strong customer focus is a must. Desire to understand and serve customers first and foremost.  
  • Strong decision making, rooting decisions in data/metrics.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Self-starter with persistence to drive projects to completion, despite any obstacles.
  • Team player who fosters collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Advanced level computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.


  • BA/BS degree with 5-7 years of product innovation/development, merchandising or purchasing experience (preferably in the commercialization/development of specialty and/or natural food industry).
  • Experience building multi-year relationships with vendors, preferably in the private label space.
  • Interest in start-up companies is a MUST. Start-up experience strongly preferred.
